On the I-12 or I-15, How Do I Make the SW2 Port Perform As If It Is SW1?

When switch port number 1 (SW1) on an I-12 or I-15 is broken, these steps will present how to make a switch connected to switch port number 2 (SW2) perform as if it is connected to switch port number 1 (SW1)?

Please note: the first section has to be done regardless of what AAC software is being used: Snap Core First, Communicator 5, or Grid 3. Then complete any or all of the following sections as needed.

Please do the following:

  1. Connect the switch into the SW2 port.
  2. Open the I-Series Control Center.
  3. At left, select Switches.
  4. Under Switch 2, Set the action for Enter (or something else if you prefer).
  5. Close the I-Series Control Center window.
     
Snap Core First:
  1. Launch Snap Core First.
  2. Go into Settings.
  3. Select User.
  4. At left, select Access Method.
  5. Under Access Method, select the current one and change to Scanning.
  6. Select the Access Method words in the main part of the window above the choices.
  7. Select Scan type and choose 1 Switch Autoscan.
  8. Under Switch Options, select Switch input, choose the same/equivalent for what was selected for number 4 in the first section above.
  9. Select Done.
     
Communicator 5: 
  1. Launch Communicator 5.
  2. From the C5 Quick Menu, select Advanced Settings.
  3. Select Input Method.
  4. Select Switch Scanning.
  5. Select Switch Scanning Settings.
  6. Select Use keyboard as switch.
  7. Under Key 1, choose the same/equivalent for what was selected for number 4 in the first section above.
     
Grid 3:
  1. Launch Grid 3.
  2. From the top bar Menu, select Settings.
  3. At left, select Access.
  4. Select Switches.
  5. Under the Activation drop down menu, select Switch scanning.
  6. Under Configuration, select Connection.
  7. Select Switch 2.
  8. Select Change Key.
  9. Using a USB keyboard, press the keyboard button to choose the same/equivalent for what was selected for number 4 in the first section above.
  10. Near the top, select the left pointing arrow next to Connection.
  11. Select the Activation button.
  12. From the 1st pull down menu under Advance, select the desired scan pattern.
  13. From the 2nd pull down menu under Advance, select Automatically advance
  14. Select OK.
