From messaging apps and video platforms to web browsing, cameras, and voice assistants, technology has created new ways for people to connect, learn, express themselves, and participate in everyday life. This session explores how multimodal communication has evolved in our technology-rich world and what these expanding opportunities mean for AAC users. Participants will identify the technology tools most frequently used by AAC users and explore how features such as YouTube, web browsers, messaging apps, cameras, and voice assistants can support communication, social connection, autonomy, skill development, and participation across settings. Through practical examples and real-world insights, learners will leave with strategies to help AAC users leverage technology as a powerful tool for communication and independence.
