Working with message windows

Draw a Message Window

  1. Select the Message Window tool in the Toolbar.

  2. Select the area on the page on which you want to place the message window.

Note:  You can also hold down the mouse button, and drag diagonally to draw a message window.

Once you have drawn the message window, you can resize it or move it:
  • To resize it ,select it, then move the pointer over any edge or corner until the double arrow appears. Click and drag the edge or corner until the message window is the size and shape you want.
  • To move the message window, select it, then drag it to any position on the page

Format the Message Window Border

In the Message Window Properties panel, under Border, select a weight, color, and style for the message window border.

Symbolate the Message Window Text

  1. Select the Symbolate Mode drop-down list.

Note:  No Symbols is the default mode for message windows. (If you want the message window text to be symbolated, select Symbolate from the Symbolate Mode drop-down list.)

Select a Spell-Check Mode
Use the Spell Mode drop-down list to select how spell check is handled for text in the message window.

  • Select None if you don’t want spell check enabled for text in the message window.
  • Select Show if you want the text in the message window to be checked for spelling errors. Misspelled words will be underlined in red.
  • Select Show And Suggest to check the text in the message window for errors and to open a dialog with suggested replacements for the misspelled word. (In Preview or Play mode, select the misspelled word. The Spell Check dialog will open. Select a replacement word. Then select Replace, Ignore, or Add Word. To hear the word spoken, select Speak.)

Select a Font Family and Font Size for the Text in the Message Window

  1. Select a font from the Font Family drop-down list.

  2. Use the drop-down list to select a font size. (Or use the font size adjustment buttons to increase or decrease the font size.)
  3. Select a style option (bold, italic, or underlined).
